sea circus photoshoot

An amazing turn of events within the first 24 hours of arriving back in Bali, saw me behind my beloved Canon, styling and shooting over 300 images for Sea Circus cafe & bar in Seminyak.   Working with the English owner, Charlie the "lion tamer" and her Aussie business partner, Andrew the "ring master", we had a session of sheer joy, as the kitchen created their comfort bistro food and the barista kept me buzzing with cracking 5-Senses soy lattes. We moved through breakfast and lunch offerings, and onto dinner dishes as the light faded and the beautiful people in town began floating through the glass doors.

I'll leave the food and cafe review to a later post on Crema & Crumbs; save to say they are brewing the best coffee this side of the ring of fire, honest cafe food and playful cocktails. The atmospheric bar and great service have got people talking, so get there soon for a dash of whimsy.  Roll up, roll up, the circus is in town.

Open Monday to Saturday 8am - late and Sunday 11am - late
22 Jalan Laksmana (Oberoi), Seminyak

connected to the jungle drums

After a week in transit, damage control and clean-up mode, I am finally reconnected with the big world beyond the coconut grove and can't wait to share the latest between leaving our home in Australia and returning to our Indonesian village.  With persistent rain and a gnawing head cold, there couldn't be a better time to be in front of the laptop chewing up megabites and drinking tea.

I will still post scintillating words and pictures here, and there are plenty of new cafes and tempting cakes coming up at CREMA & CRUMBS but to get a taste of our island life, subscribe to my blog REMOTE & RAW and join us for the 2011 Indo surf season.

A quick note to let you know I'm in transit mode - in Bali enroute to our island home - and will be filling the blogwaves with photos and stories as soon as we clean the house of goat poo and settle back in to the pace of which I am accustomed.  Arrived into Denpasar at 2am and awoke with fuzzy heads to the familiar racket of Legian. Straight to Bintang supermarket for a banana binge. Floods rendered the humble banana a luxury item in Australia ($4.50 each), and we were dearly missing the staple of our diet.  Chased up a fruity breakfast with coffee at Grocer & Grind, then lunch at Biku.  Great to get back to our favourite Seminyak haunts before the long dry spell of cafe deprivation.

Tomorrow I am doing a shoot for Sea Circus cafe & bar.  Holy buddha am I thrilled. Best soy lattes in Bali.
