silent reading

Island time offers plenty of opportunity to read.  With my mind occupied I can sit still just long enough for Tom to draw or paint me. These watercolours are two of an ongoing series.

So far this season I have read :

Room by Emma Donoghue
The Love Verb by Jane Green
The Paris Wife by Paula McLain
The Last American Man by Elizabeth Gilbert
The Malay Archipelago by Alfred Wallace
Little Bee by Chris Cleve

One newspaper and the odd magazine that finds its way into the village in someone's luggage.

In contrast, in the three months I was home in Australia I read...
nothing.
Other than newspapers, magazines, bank statements, bills, and blogs. I didn't finish one book.

What are you reading?  I am always keen for recommendations.

artistic afternoons

Creative endeavors from the island studio
Tom on the watercolours with the full moon as his muse.

Me out the back in my studio with silkscreen and cloth, continuing the pear theme.
In the living room, a new wall hanging made with gifts from the sea.

Have you made anything this weekend?
Grab a pencil, camera or paintbrush and come on an island artist's walk with us.
